Thrills & Chills: Halloween Costume Gala

Thrills & Chills: Halloween Costume Gala
The Wilkins House
October 27, 2018
The ghostly hosts at the Carolina Ballet Theater invite you to dance the night away in the haunted halls and grounds of The Wilkins House. Spine-tingling wails, creeping shadows, and disembodied spirits from Greenville’s past will greet you at a doomed feast filled with food and liquor anyone but vampires will love (who never drink wine). Get your freak on while our surprise DJ lays down the beats and a special return of CBT’s professional dancers performing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The haunting will commence in the tangle of frightening chambers at The Wilkins House, where this night might be your last. Only the dead are welcome, so costumes are required for this eerie event. 21+ only.

$300 costume prizes for one man and one woman.

*Food and drinks included in ticket price*

Snow White the Ballet

Snow White the Ballet

The Peace Center
September 29th, 2017, Education Show, Friday at 10:00am
September 30th, 2017, Saturday at 2:30pm and 7:00pm

Carolina Ballet Theatre’s Snow White the Ballet is a unique retelling of the classic fairytale. Traditionally, the story portrays the deep envy of the wicked stepmother and the evil that ensues. Carolina Ballet Theatre’s imaginative adaption of the classic favorite beautifully captures both the comedic side of the dwarfs and wicked stepmother and the innocence of Snow White. Snow White the Ballet masterfully conveys the beauty in the fact that true love comes in many formats. The one-of-a-kind retelling features choreography by the acclaimed Mark Diamond, choreographer for Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux at the Chautauqua Institution and Program Director for Charlotte Ballet II. In addition to placing the comedic dwarves on center stage, the ballet diverts from typical narrative and features a male dancer as the iconic wicked stepmother turned evil queen. The ballet is composed utilizing a collage of musical scores in order to craft a novel and unforgettable experience.

The ballet will premier at the Gunter Theatre and will feature three showings, one education show on September 29th and two on Saturday, September 30th..

The Nutcracker: Once Upon a Time in Greenville

The Nutcracker: Once Upon a Time in Greenville

The Peace Center
December 22nd, Friday at 7:00pm
December 23rd, Saturday at 2:30pm & 7:00pm

Carolina Ballet Theatre proudly presents The Nutcracker: Once Upon A Time in Greenville– a European inspired production that brings all of Clara’s adventures and excitement home to Greenville. Continuing our reinvented holiday classic, the production highlights Victorian societal expectations and prosperity while Clara and her beloved Nutcracker dance their way through the cherished landmarks and stunning scenery of Greenville and into the hearts of the audience.

The libretto is adapted from E.T. A. Hoffmann’s classic story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Choreographed by Herman Justo, the refreshed ballet is based on the original Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov ballet.

On opening night, Carolina Ballet Theatre has the distinct privilege to host guest artists from internationally renowned ballet companies – Herman Cornejo, Principal at American Ballet Theater and his sister, Erica Cornejo, Principal at Boston Ballet. All 3 performances are brought to life by a 100+ person cast including CBT Company dancers: Laura Mortimer, Meghan Loman, and Martin Justo-Bernardez, along with Matt Harvey, Madeline Jazz Harvey, Peter Base, Francesca Genovese and Lance Hardin.

Additionally, this year CBT has partnered with SC Football Hall of Fame to bring surprise celebrity athletes to the stage, showcasing how athleticism spans from field to stage. Perhaps the sweetest treat for all will be The Meyer Center for Special Children students dancing side by side with our professional dancers.
