For over 50 years, Carolina Ballet Theatre’s mission has been to engage, entertain, and educate its audience through the dynamic medium of dance. CBT works to provide Greenville with resident professional dancers who are dedicated to creating rich educational opportunities in dance for all segments of its Upstate audience. CBT provides professional performances, masterclasses, and quality educational programs for participants to experience the joy and magic of live dance regardless of financial or socioeconomic barriers.
Carolina Ballet Theatre is proud to provide an amazing program that has been impacting local boys and young men for over seven years. The Boys Ballet Program started with the intent of giving young men the chance to join an inclusive organization where they could express themselves through the art of dance. This tuition-free program is unique for so many reasons. The class meets once a week for 36 weeks. Boys ages 7-11 may be eligible to apply. Although it focuses on ballet, boys who choose to audition do not have to have any prior dance experience. While a background in dance can be beneficial, it is not required. This gives young men the opportunity to try something new and exciting. Additionally, these young men can audition for a spot in one of Carolina Ballet Theatre’s professional performances at the Peace Center as a member of its community cast.
One of Carolina Ballet Theatre’s many outreach efforts includes its Community Nutcracker. This event provides over 200 complimentary tickets to local charities hosted by its community partner, TD SYNNEX Share The Magic and other local charities. These special guests are treated to a matinee performance, a special goodie bag and meet-and-great with the professional cast.
Carolina Ballet Theatre is a fundamental aspect of Greenville’s amazing arts community as it provides a season of professional ballet performances as a Peace Center Art’s Partner. CBT also fosters and develops young, local talent and then provides a platform as they pursue a professional career in dance.
