Calling all aspiring young dancers! Carolina Ballet Theatre is thrilled to offer a unique chance to perform alongside our professional company dancers in the upcoming production of “Cinderella.” This enchanting ballet will be performed on the weekend of April 10-11 at the Gunter Theatre.

Who Can Audition:

We welcome dancers ages 9-18.  Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Ages 9-11: min 1 year of ballet training and currently enrolled in at least 2 ballet classes/week.
  • Ages 12-18: min 3 years of ballet training and currently enrolled in at least 3 ballet classes/week.
  • DanceArts Greenville students must be currently enrolled in level Ballet 4B or higher

Audition Schedule

Ages 12–18 / DAG Levels 5A, 6B, 6A, 7

  • 1:30 Registration
  • 2:00–3:00 Audition

Ages 9–11 / DAG Levels 4B, 4A, 5B

  • 3:00 Registration
  • 3:30–4:30 Audition

Required Fees:

  • A non-refundable $25 audition fee is required to be considered for the performance, payable by cash or check to CBT upon arrival.
  • Audition fee is required even if the dancer cannot attend auditions or is not cast.
  • If cast, a $175 production fee is due by January 25th. This fee includes a cast t-shirt and a Vimeo link of the performance.

Audition Day Reminders:

  • Only registered dancers will be admitted.
  • Arrive promptly; late dancers cannot enter once the audition starts.
  • All auditions are closed to the public.
  • Drop off dancers at the DAG entrance; a check-in table will be set up inside.
  • Dancers should arrive in audition attire under street clothes.
    • Females: Tights, leotard (no skirt), ballet shoes, pointe shoes (if applicable). Hair in a neat bun, no jewelry.
    • Males: Trim-fitted t-shirt, tights, shorts or black tights, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or socks.

What to Expect at the Audition:

  • Dancers will be divided into small groups based on age.
  • They will perform basic ballet steps and combinations for CBT’s Artistic Staff.
  • Dancers will be evaluated on their performance and execution of the steps.
  • All dancers will be photographed for height measurement.
  • Dancers will be placed in a role that best suits their abilities; role or cast selection is not possible.
  • Please remind your dancer that if they feel unwell at any time or need to use the restroom, they should ask an adult for assistance. We aim to ensure that dancers are as comfortable as possible during this process.

Rehearsal Information:

  • Mandatory dress rehearsals will be held on March 28-29.
  • No rehearsals on the following dates:
    • February 27 – Impact performance
    • March 7-8 – DAYCo Bravado
    • March 20-21
    • April 5 – Easter Sunday

Casting Announcement:

Audition results will be emailed within one week. Not all who audition will be cast.
