Nightmare at the Museum: CBT is looking for dancers ages 12-18 that take a minimum of 3 ballet classes per week along with a jazz class. Must be 12 years old by September 1, 2025. This production employs the use of strobe lights, which may affect individuals who are susceptible to photo sensitivities.

Nutcracker: Once Upon a Time in Greenville: CBT is looking for dancers ages 5-18 that are enrolled in weekly ballet classes. Dancers must be 5 years old by September 1, 2025. All dancers must audition.

Ages 5-6: Must be currently enrolled in a weekly ballet class.

Ages 7-8: Requires a minimum of 6 months of ballet training and current enrollment in a weekly ballet class.

Ages 9-11: Requires a minimum of 1 year of ballet training and current enrollment in at least 2 ballet classes per week.

Ages 12-18: Requires a minimum of 3 years of ballet training and current enrollment in at least 3 ballet classes per week.

Dancers aged 5-6 participating in the Nutcracker for the first time will be cast as Little Angels. They’ll perform in 2 of the 4 Nutcracker shows. Please note: Casting decisions are based on various factors, including the number of dancers in each age group. While the Artistic Staff aims to advance dancers whenever possible, auditioning does not guarantee a promotion from a previous year’s Little Angel casting. Little Angel casting will be announced in mid-September, with rehearsals beginning in early November.

An audition fee of $25 per show ($50 for both) is due when you arrive at the audition. You can pay with cash or a check made out to CBT.

New this season: Please bring an informal headshot of your dancer to registration. Any photo size is fine.

A $175 Production Fee per show will be due September 7, if cast. Production fees include a t-shirt and Vimeo link of the performance. This fee helps cover production expenses including but not limited to costumes, props, sets and production supplies.

Dress Rehearsals are mandatory and will be held 10/11-12 for Nightmare at the Museum and 12/6-7 for Nutcracker

  • No rehearsals over Labor Day weekend
  • Nutcracker rehearsals will be held on the weekend of October 11-12. (Note: Monday October 13th is a school holiday)
  • No Nutcracker rehearsals October 24-26 (Due to “Nightmare at the Museum”) No rehearsal Saturday, November 29th

Audition Day Information

Only registered dancers will be permitted to audition. Please arrive promptly, as dancers will not be admitted into the audition once it has started. All auditions are closed.

Auditioning dancers should be dropped off at the DAG entrance of the building, where a check-in table will be set up inside. Once checked in, your dancer will be escorted to a studio to warm up and prepare for the audition. The parent meeting will be held outside on the porch.

Dancers should arrive with their audition attire underneath their street clothes. Female dancers should wear tights, a leotard (without a skirt), ballet shoes, and pointe shoes if applicable. Hair should be neatly secured in a bun and no jewelry is permitted. Male dancers should wear a trim-fitted t-shirt, tights, shorts or black tights, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or socks.

Dancers will be divided into small groups based on age and will perform basic steps and combinations for CBT’s Artistic Staff. Dancers will be evaluated on their performance and execution of the steps.

Dancers will then be photographed for height, as all roles are cast based on height, skill, and ability. Each role has a specific height requirement and all dancers must be able to fit into production costumes. Dancers will be placed in a role that best suits their abilities within the production. Dancers may not choose their role or cast.

Please remind your dancer that if they feel unwell at any time or need to use the restroom, they should ask a volunteer for assistance. We aim to ensure that dancers are as comfortable as possible during this process.
