Carolina Ballet Theatre Announces Check Presentation to Jasmine Road and Return to Artisphere
GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 9, 2023) – Carolina Ballet Theatre is proud to partner with other local non-profits in the Upstate through its Community Outreach Program. The 2023 Community Outreach Performance was in benefit of Jasmine Road, South Carolina’s first long-term residential program for adult female survivors of sex trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. Jasmine Road serves to heal and employ survivors by providing a pathway of opportunity and a lifelong community of support, significantly reducing the likelihood of women returning to life on the streets.
This Spring, CBT hosted a special performance in which proceeds were given back to Jasmine Road to help further their mission. The sold-out performance consisted of several original pieces by Artistic Director, Hernan Justo, as well as choreography (with permission) by Salvatore Aiello (1944-1995) staged by Mia Cunningham. Following the performance, Carolina Ballet Theatre presented a donation check as well as a signed poster from the performance to Jasmine Road at their offices.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to provide these outreach performances for our community,” said Artistic Director Hernan Justo. “We thank the entire upstate for our success over the last fifty years and look forward to continuing to provide these performances for years to come.”
Carolina Ballet Theatre is also proud to announce their return to Artisphere presented by TD Bank. The company will be performing Paquita, a classical ballet, in downtown Greenville on Sunday May 14th at 11:00am at the Local Performing Arts Stage in Falls Park. The ballet follows the story of a young girl who discovers she is of noble birth after living in poverty since she was an infant.
