Carolina Ballet Theatre’s family extends beyond the stage to include a large community of dedicated volunteers. An integral part of this community is the CBT Guild. The primary focus of the CBT Guild is to offer support to the academic programs, special projects, fundraisers, and performances of Carolina Ballet Theatre. The Guild provides many hours of volunteer service ʹ working backstage during productions, hosting cast parties, and managing special events. By joining the Guild, you can be a part of this fun, energetic and dedicated group of parents and friends committed to supporting Carolina Ballet Theatre. Whatever your talents and interests, the Guild has a place for you!

Volunteers Needed For:

Administration: Administrative volunteers serve in various roles at CBT during business hours. All skill levels are welcome to help in any department with general clerical duties such as research, database entry, filing, phone calls, photocopying, mailing, writing, archiving, editing, and information systems technology. One can volunteer on an occasional basis for special projects or on a weekly basis.

Development/Fundraising: Development volunteers serve in various roles to assist CBT in raising funds for all programming. This assistance can be done in solicitation of playbill ads, sponsorships, or helping plan necessary fundraising events during the season. It can also include keeping all patrons and donors in the loop by writing letters or making thank you phone calls. One can volunteer on an occasional basis for special projects or on a weekly basis

Production: Appear and perform as a cast extra or help keep rehearsals running smoothly. There are opportunities associated with auditions, rehearsals, and performances.

Backstage: Go behind the scenes and see how the magic happens. Help with costuming by assisting with basic sewing, mending, and altering of costumes. If that does not suit your tastes, then consider helping with property design and creation, or scenic construction. All of this can be done before the show takes the stage or if you want to be a part of the action you can work crew, manage the stage door, or help in the dressing rooms but you must be at least 15 years of age to work in this area and subject to approval by the Executive Director. These require a commitment to work the entire production run, including dress rehearsal.

Marketing and Communications: Immerse yourself in the culture of dance and help us spread the word about our company. Help implement the company’s marketing initiatives through promotional and sales campaigns at community events, social media platforms, etc.

Hospitality: Assist with planning, coordination, and staging of special events during the season.

CBT Boutique: The CBT boutique is an in-studio shop which includes resale items, and production merchandise boutique that ushers in the spirit of the production with keepsake merchandise that creates a little magic. The in-studio CBT boutique operates on limited hours and the production boutique operations prior to the start of each performance and at all intermissions.
