Getting an early start on Halloween, Carolina Ballet Theatre has treats for both children and adults.

The troupe will offer two performances on Saturday at the Peace Center’s Gunter Theatre of its popular ballet inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

The earlier show is for kids, the later one for adults.

The 1 p.m. ballet, “Before Dark: Thrilling Treats and Ghostly Beats,” while still spooky, has been softened for younger sensibilities.

“It’s shortened and watered down a little,” said Hernan Justo, artistic director of Carolina Ballet Theatre.

“I took out the monster sounds,” he said.

The event offers children a chance to meet the characters and enjoy trick-or-treating after the performance.
